Anyway, here's a list of Spencer's "why" questions, over a period of 24 hours...
- Why is water healthy for us?
- Why do we have to eat food?
- Why are there pineapples in our trail mix?
- Why is the car in front of us not in back of us?
- Why, when a car turns upside-down, and cars are stacked on top of it, do they not just slide off?
- Why, when you put things tight around your neck, does it make you choke? (as he's tying a ribbon around his neck and I'm telling him NOT to, please!?)
- Why is the road smooth sometimes?
- Why should we not wear shoes in our beds?
- Why are ants really small?
- Why do the wipers help the water get swished off the car?
- Why are some letters on that sign red and some are blue?
- Why is the speed limit "five five"?
- Why does the rain make ponds and beaches deeper?
- Why are dirt and mud brown?
- Why does two come after one?
- Why when someone goes out the door, someone else can hold it open for them?
- Why when people touch each other do they get germs?
I read on a friend's blog, a long time ago, that she always wants to make sure her child feels comfortable asking questions and receiving answers. So, this mother has made it a point to always provide an answer to every question her child asks. Noble, isn't it? Believe it or not, I have tried to do the same with Spencer.
But it's not easy, I tell you!

On the bright side of all these questions, at least it's not the same questions over and over. It probably makes you really think how to answer some of his more intricate questions! :)
He's such a funny and smart boy!
He is a smart fella! He is very observant of his surroundings, that's for sure. I love it! I have the same problem with Ave. Her favorite ones are
*What does if mean?
*What does is mean?
*What does Capital mean?
*What does bra mean?
Many other weird ones. I don't know the answers to these things. I agree that it isn't easy. It is good entertainment though.
Love it! J-Man was that way too. Ans still is. Only now his questions are much more technical. Like "how does the internet work?" or "Why is everything made in China?" When he was little though and he would ask questions like "Why is the sky blue?" and I really had no response, or no clue, I would turn the question back around and ask him what he thought. Sometimes I got a quick I don't know and we would come up with an answer together and other times I got a very thought out response 5 min. later. But I think it made him start to think about things around him and now I am amazed at the things he thinks through and figures out.
Love this post! The one about why does two come after three made me laugh out loud. I would love to know what your answers to all of these questions of his were. I miss you all so much!

I'm sure that that little guy is going to turn into something GREAT and INTELLIGENT--considering how thoughtful and inquisitive he is!!
Dennis and your brothers were especially impressed when you told us how Spencer had asked "Why do Airplanes have wheels and Helicopters don't?" That's being pretty observant, we all thought!!
