The pictures don't even do it justice. His cheeks were so ruddy and red, and he had little red pocks all OVER his body. Who would have thought?! He acted fine -- even a bit more rowdy than he has been lately. No fever. No loss of appetite. It was just a weird rash. Well, we didn't want to risk infecting anybody so we did some shuffling for church time (Brian went to Sacrament to be sustained for his new church calling in the Sunday School pres., then I went to RS to play for our special musical lesson.) And Spencer stayed home and slept. He was fine all day, other than looking a little freaky with the spots all over. Then today, it started lightening up. We still took him to the doctor, even though it seems to be clearing on its own. Dr first said it was probably a viral infection that is just ending. Then he called in the special pediatrician, and she said it looked more like a reaction to the amoxicillin -- but it could still be a virus, possibly. The good thing is that it's going away, and Spencer seems to be fine.
It's just crazy how much we worry about our kids, sometimes. Always better to be safe than sorry, I suppose. Anyway, just thought I'd share the mundane details of life here, so you can be glad for my absence from blogging. ha!
I have to say, our super-cute Spence still looks super cute to me, even if he is covered in red spots...

That's so hard to deal with...Shylah had a horrible allergic reaction to amoxicillin when she was 1 1/2...it was really scary. All my kids had that weird viral infection that caused a bad rash about a month ago. You're right, he does still look cute :)

I hate rashes. The doctors never know for sure what it is and that is so frustrating to me. At least you do have a possible explanation with the amoxicillin. At least he didn't suffer with it. And you're right he's still just as cute as ever.

Brian had that same rash right before Thanksgiving. It lasted 5 days. He wasn't even sick. Weird. I got it too, which makes me a little worried about the baby. I hope spencer is doing better. The rash is usually the final symptom of a viral infection, if that's what it is, so you should be over it soon.
Wow--Grown ups can get it, even??? (I'm referring to Candice's statement above....) Let's hope it truly IS just from the Amoxicillin, cause it'd be dreadful for it to be a Virus and end up going all around through the whole family and even to Others that he's been in contact with, eh?! How sad. That looks awful. His red cheeks and "polka dots" all over him. I'm glad he did feel bad though and that he still looks as cute as ever. I called while you were at the doctor. So sad I missed you. I'll try again.
I hate those virus rashes. My kids are very prone to them and it always gets us worrying when after being sick they end up with this terrible rash. I'm happy your cute boy is doing better!!!

Sorry my post isn't more of a "hi- how ya doin'" post right now. I just wanted to let you know my kids would get the same rash with a viral infection! And, after they got the chicken pox immunization, so it seems pretty harmless. You guys all look so cute! I hope to see you soon! (hint hint)!
Oh, that poor little guy! And how scary to have a temp of 105!!! His eyes are still as big and blue (even with that rash :) ) What a cutie! Hey Kam I was hoping to send you a Christmas card! would you mind emailing me your address?
